Conference venue

The conference will take place in Hotel Dom na Uchenia. The hotel is located in the eastern part of Sofia, on the road from the airport and near one of the buildings of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum, BAS.

Accommodation

 The Organizing Committee will provide accommodation at Hotel Dom na Uchenia. The prices are as follow:

 Single room: 49 BGN (approx. 25 EUR)

Double room for one person: 53 BGN (approx. 27 EUR)

Standard double room: 59 BGN (approx. 30 EUR)

Suit for one person: 82 BGN (approx. 42 EUR)

Suit for two people: 89 BGN (approx. 46 EUR)

Prices for participants coming through academic exchange:

 Single room: 25 EUR

Suit for one person: 31 EUR

There is a restaurant at the hotel where you could find good food at normal prices. In the vicinity of the hotel there are lots of other restaurants with cuisine that suits any taste.

Transport

Public transport

From the airport to Hotel Dom na Uchenia: Take bus №84 from the Sofia Airport (it goes to the centre of the city), get off at bus stop “Hotel Pliska” and walk about 10 minutes in order to get to the hotel. The bus ticket costs 1 BGN (0,50 EUR). You could buy it at the kiosks at the bus stop, from the bus driver or the automatic ticket machine in the bus.

From the airport to the centre of the city: Take bus №84 from the Sofia Airport and get off at bus stop “Sofiyski Universitet Sveti Kliment Ohridski” (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”). The bus stop is just opposite the main building of the Sofia University.

You can also use Sofia Metro. Line 1 connects Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport to the city centre. Take the train from metro station “Sofia Airport” and get off at station “Sofia University” or “Serdika”.

From Hotel Dom na Uchenia to the centre of the city: Take bus №84 from bus stop “Hotel Pliska” and get off at bus stop “Sofiyski Universitet Sveti Kliment Ohridski” (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”) or take tram №20 from tram stop “Geo Milev” and get off at tram stop “Centralni Hali” (Central Market Hall).

Taxi

If you prefer to take taxi from and to Sofia Airport we recommend the taxi company with which the airport has a contract: OK Supertrans (О‘Кей Супертранс), tel. 02/973 21 21. You can request the taxi service at the office of OK Supertrans in the Arrivals Hall. The price from the airport to hotel “Dom na Uchenia” should be less than 10 BGN (5 ЕUR). In order to avoid the risk of abuse, we recommend that you do not use taxi services offered by other taxi companies in front of the terminal.

Currency and Credit Cards

The currency in Bulgaria is Bulgarian Lev (BGN). 1 Euro is 1, 95 BGN. In Hotel Dom na Uchenia you could pay only in cash: at the reception – in BGN or EURO, in the restaurant – only in BGN. Generally, in most hotels, restaurants and shops the commonly accepted credit cards are Visa, Visa Electron, Master Card, and Maestro. Usually, restaurants and shops have signs indicating the type of credit cards they accept. In public transport and taxies you could pay only in cash.
